Hi again,
at the moment you cannot disable the newday event but during this year it should be possible to suppress canceling running jobs.

Re: Error with backup of sesam server
Hi,
did you change the time of the newday event to 10PM, because the backup cancels at about this time and the newday event cancels all activities on Sesam server? By default the newday event runs at 8AM, but it is possible to change the execution time of this event.

Re: Verify After Backup
Hi,
as far as I know SEP sesam contains a readability check for tapes. You just need to contact sales@sep.de to get a new license for this feature. But I don't know, whether this feature is already fully functional.

Hi, you don't need to install additional software on the ESX server (up from version 4 of ESX). You just need the VDDK to access the ESX server. The message "access denied" usually means, user name and password is not correct. But perhaps there are additional information above this error, which are ...

Hi,
you can use the community edition of SEP sesam, which is free, but without support. Take a look at this link to get more information:
http://wiki.sepsoftware.com/wiki/index. ... Version.3F
This license is for one host only.

Hi,
SEP sesam should work with Exchange 2010 SP2, too. As long as the API doesn't change to get all of the information, this shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Error running gui from Windows Server
Hi, I could imagine, this error could occurs, when there's a firewall between your Sesam server and Sesam client. You could try "telnet <hostname of your Sesam server> 11401" to test, whether a connection to the Sesam GUI works. The result should like this: telnet ossi1001 11401 Trying 12.12.12.12.....

Re: Installing SEP Sesam on a virtual server
Hi,
you can install sesam on a virtual box. In this case it's all the same for SEP, whether it's physical or not as long as the operating system is supported.

Re: Moving the backup server to a new one
Hi,
you have to update from 3.4 to 3.6 and then from 3.6 to 4.0. Otherwise sesam will not start anymore. The SEP support team could help you, but I think, you already set up the sesam server from scratch, didn't you?

Re: Windows BSR error SMS0004
Hi,
this problem can occur when installing the Desktop version of CBMR. Try to install the Server version. If this doesn't work, copy the file xbsa.dll from your <sesam-root>\bin\sesam folder to the CMBR folder. Also ensure, the sds_sep.dll file exists in there.

Re: Could the sasam's backups be purged?
Hi, the sesam database itself is usually very small. In small environments it should not be bigger than 10MB. But especially sesam's lis directory could have a bigger size. Perhaps this helps you: http://wiki.sepsoftware.com/wiki/index.php/Admin_Manual_4.0#Compressing_SEP_sesam_Listing_Files Greetin...

Re: More newbie questions
Hello, as far as I know you cannot delete a medium with sesam right now. You would have to use commands like tar or dd. On Windows this could be more difficult, because there is no default application to erase a tape. I found this software, but I don't know, whether this is helpful: http://www.lowth...

Re: install sep sesam 4
Hi, it depends, what you want to do with it. You need at least one sesam server in your environment. Client is just capable to backup and restore data, RDS a client, but is also capable to write to a tape device and GUI package means administrate the GUI remotely with included client.
