Client connection problem after upgrading

Post by ggagnon » May 31st, 2013, 8:56 pm

Hi,

I upgraded my SEP sesam server from 4.2.0 to 4.2.1.41

Since then, my server as connection problem with ALL the clients.
=> Backup from <clientName> cannot return to <serverName> - please check ( ping, DNS, local STPD ).

The server can see the client because it returns the client version.

I did all the Ping, nslookup, reverse, etc that i can imagine and everything is responding properly. Firewall and antivirus disabled on both server and client.
Drastic solution: Reinstalling the server from scratch, Windows and SEP sesam. Same problem...

A second SEP sesam server, also with 4.2.1.41, is able to connect to clients.

Configuration:
- Server: Windows 2008 R2 SP1, Java 7 Update9, Microsoft .NET Framework 4, SEP sesam Server 4.2.1.41
- Client : SLES 10 SP3 with OES2 SP3, SEP sesam client 4.2.1.41

Any Hint ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

please check

- is local backup possible
- using clients and server the same DNS server
- the hosts file of the Win server ("127.0.0.1 localhost" and "real_IP servername_FQDN servername_short"
- on client side execute "/opt/sesam/bin/sesam/sm_setup check_resolution <sesam server name>"
- on server side execute "<SESAM_INST>/bin/sesam/sm_setup check_resolution <sesam server name>"

Compare the results.

- on server side execute "<SESAM_INST>/bin/sesam/sm_main status"

Check the output for "All deamons online"

Most time this is an routing, name resolution or firewall/security problem.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.

I have a ticket with a SEP Sesam expert. Can't find what is the problem. I re-installed the previous version, 4.2.1.24. and everything is working fine...
I will stay with that version for now.

I did not mention: my SEP server is install in foreign language (french).

Good bye.
