Backup Novell Vibe 3.4

Post by mcando » June 5th, 2014, 4:57 pm

Hi,
I´ve seen the you tube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q8x9qvmfOc and seems very different from what Novell's Documentation says here: https://www.novell.com/documentation/vi ... 5cvvl.html

So I'm confused, I have 2 Vibe servers, one for the data and one with the mysql database, can anyone point me out some tips of how to do a complete backup of my Vibe system?

Thanks in advance.

Miguel.

Hi Miguel,

the video show the backup of the teaming database and a complete desaster backup of the teaming server. In this case all teaming files and configs included in the backup tasks. You can see the nearly complete baisc configuration of SEP Sesam (media pools, scheduling etc.) in the video, which has nothing to do with the teaming/vibe part of the video.

For a pure VIBE recovery you need only the database and the VIBE data. In your case, make a backup of your MySQL database from the first server and a backup of your data from the second server (as described in the Novell documentation).

In the meantime, for a bare system recovery of a Linux server, SEP Sesam use a new functionality, based on the REAR project. http://wiki.sepsoftware.com/wiki/index. ... nux_3.0_en
