SEP Spits out the correct tape?

Post by AndersG » September 2nd, 2014, 6:21 am

Any idea why? Tapes are LTO and all are in the same pool. I have marked them "monday" through "friday" so that the person responsible for changing tapes do not mix them up. Yesterday the "monday" tape was in the drive but SEP spat it out.

Looking at the log I see it identifying the tape as 00006 which is monday, but then requesting 00007 which is Friday? Why? When I look at media,00006 is locked until Aug 14. It does show one "initialization failed" for Sep 1, could that be it?

Hi,

it sounds, that you have a single drive. If the media in the drive cannot initialized, sesam try to use the "last used" media. In your case the "friday" media.

The real question is, why failed the initialization of the monday tape ?

You can look in the day log (the time when the error occur) and also in the <sesam_var>/log/lgc/bck_<taskname>*.log of the task which requested the tape.

And you can check the tape, see the SEP WIKI:
