How to backup VM's using VMware vCenter Appliance 6.0

Post by HelpComputer » September 14th, 2015, 8:46 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know if it's possible to do VM backups using the VMware vCenter Appliance 6.0? It looks like the appliance is running SLES 11 SP3 but when I try to install the client I get the following error,
error: Failed dependencies:
lsb-release is needed by sesam_cli-4.4.2-68.sles11.x86_64
I've tried installing lsb-4.0-27.1.x86_64.rpm but that lists more failed dependencies.

I am wondering how others are backing up VM's when using the VMware vCenter Appliance.

I am sure I am missing something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,

the sesam client depends on lsb-release and if there are other dependencies (from lsb-release) , you have to install the missing modules.

Thanks cliogp for the reply. I ended up not using the vCenter Appliance and installed vCenter on a Windows Server. I couldn't get the dependencies to install correctly on the appliance. Thanks though!
