Error running gui from Windows Server

Post by adann » November 11th, 2011, 2:45 am

Hi I have Sep sesam server 3.6 installed on sles10/oes2 and manage it via a windows 2003 server with the gui installed.
It has worked fine for over 12 months but now when I try and run the gui from the windows machine I get the following error.

GUI can not be started:

The GUI server component is not running
or is currently not reachable.

The gui will run fine from the sles10/oes2 server where the server component is installed so the gui server is running.
I have tried uninstalling the gui from the windows server and reinstalling, but even get the same error message during install when it looks for the server.
Any suggestions as to where to check next would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I could imagine, this error could occurs, when there's a firewall between your Sesam server and Sesam client. You could try "telnet <hostname of your Sesam server> 11401" to test, whether a connection to the Sesam GUI works. The result should like this:

Code: Select all

 telnet ossi1001 11401
Trying 12.12.12.12...
Connected to ossi1001.
Escape character is '^]'.
If you do not get this output, probably a firewall or a virus protection blocks the connection. This also could occur, when having two different subnets connected via router, which uses NAT.
